Inspired(An Essay by Tacarra Shaw)
Change, everyone talks so much about change. Some people actually think they have changed. Some people claim they want to change. Others try real hard to make a change. But I completely feel most important part of change is inspiration. Inspiration is the key to change. Whether it is in yourself, your career, your spouse or your community and we definitely can’t forget out nation. We are all so blessed to be apart of this inspirational part of history. For some having Barack Obama as President means the nation has changed. For the people who have endured what others only heard about, know it’s not only change that has arose but it’s hope, recognition and inspiration that we see. Realizing those components make change will lead us who had given up, to be able to embrace it again. Barack becoming President helped me to see that it is not over for us who have endured. You must embrace inspiration, look for change and give inspiration to make a real change. My children know and are learning all about Barack Obama and how he is inspiring the Nation to change. They know when they grow older they can be whatever they want in life. Today I can say that to my children and I am not lying or trying to just comfort they’re lack of acknowledgement in the community. Today I can wake up and say “My dreams are my goals.” And that’s okay! Today I can say I am inspired by the same Nation who led our minds astray. Today I inspire. Today I change. Today my dreams, my mothers dreams, my daughters dreams are not just dreams or to be considered unrealistic. But instead goals, life goals or better yet realistic goals. Just because you feel or have heard that certain positions in life are hard to obtain and most don’t! Doesn't mean it is unrealistic. Just because you can’t see yourself there doesn't mean you can’t get there or even that you don’t deserve to be there. You just have to get inspired. Don’t let your history be your future. Not when you deserve better, not when you deserve change.
